ORDINANCE NO. 681
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING
BOULEVARD STOPS IN THE PUB-
LIC STREETS IN NATIONAL CITY:
PROVIDING PENALTY FOR THE
VIOLATION HEREOF, AND RE-
PEALING ORDINANCES IN CON-
FLICT HEREOF
Be it ordained by the city council
of the city of National City, a muni-
cipal corporation, as follows:
Section 1: The definition of any
term used in this ordinance is the
definition of such term as it is de-
fined and described in the Vehicle
Code of the State of California and
amendments thereto.
Section 3: The city council of the
city of National City may by resolu-
tion determine and designate the lo-
cation of intersection stops, and/or
loading or safety zones, and it is
hereby authorized and directed to
place, paint and maintain, or cause
to be maintained, the necessary'
signs or markers, or painted curb-
ings in accordance with the Vehicle
Code of the State of California and
amendments thereto.
Section 3: Every driver of a Ve-
hicle shall stop such Vehicle before
entering or crossing any through
highway and before entering or cross-
ing any intersection designated as a
stop intersection at any entrance
thereto designated as a stop en-
trance: all such stops shall be made
at or before reaching the prolonga-
tion of the property line of such
through highway or intersect'on or
at such other places properly marked
and designated as "Stop" location;
provided, however, that no such stop
need be made when traffic is signaled
to proceed by any stop and go signal
or by a police officer.
Section. 4: It shall be unlawful for
the driver of a Vehicle to stop. stand
or park said Vehicle in any "load-
ing zone" or "passenger loading
zone" for a period of time longer
than is necessary for the loading or
unloading of passengers, materials,
or baggage; provided. that said load-
ing or unloading of passengers and/or
baggage shall not consume more than
three (3) minutes, and that said load-
ing or unloading of materials shall
not consume more than twenty (20)
minutes.
Loading zones shall be operative be-
tween six (6) A.M. and six (6) P.M.
except Sundays and holidays. Passen-
ger loading zones in front of theaters
shall be operative between 11 A.M.
until 12 midnight. Passenger loading
zones in front of hotels and hospitals
shall be operative 24 hours a day.
Section a; Any person violating any
of the provisions of this ordinance,
or violating any resolution rule and/or
regulation adopted pursuant to this
ordinance shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor and upon conviction thereof
shall be punished by a fine not ex-
ceeding $300.00 or by imprisonment
in the city Jail for no more than
three months, or by both such fine
and imprisonment.
Section 6: That ordinance No. 597.
of the city of National City, adopted
April Pith, 1929. and the amendments
thereto, be, and the same are hereby
repealed.

City Council of the City of National
City, California, this 1st day of July,
1941. by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen Cordingly, Fritz,
Kilcrease, Warner, Thatcher.
Nays: Councilmen none.
