ORDINANCE NO. 705
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE DISCHARGE OF
Ot3JECTIONABLE MATTER INTO THE SEWER SYSTEM
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY AND PROVIDING
A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of National
.City, California, as follows:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to place, throw, or deposit, or cause or permit to be
placed, thrown or deposited in any public sewer, drain, catch
basin, water closet, private vault or cesspool, any dead animal,
offal or garbage, fish, fruit, or vegetable waste, sand, liquid
•waste of any kind containing chemicals, greases, oil, tar and/or
gasoline, or any other objectionable materials or matter of what-
ever kind, class, or description which will clog, obstruct, fill
or prevent the effective use of, and/or necessitate the frequent
repair, cleaning out or flushing of such sewer, drain or catch
basin, and/or cause an explosive gas condition in said sewers or
sewage treatment plant.
Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
of the Provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdeameanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a
fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or by im-
prisonment in the City Jail for a period of not more than six
(6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Each such person, firm or corporation shall be deemed guilty
of a separate offense for every day during any portion of which
any violation of any provision of this ordinance is committed,
continued or permitted by such person, firm or corporation, and
shall be punished therefor as provided by this ordinance.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in

force on the thirty-first day from and after its passage and
approval.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
National City, California, this 21st day of March, 194.4, by the
following vote to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen ,Christman, Cordingly, Fritz, Newberry,
Thatcher.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: None.
