ORDINANCE NO. 606
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING
OTHER PYROTECHNIC DISPL TS ANDETjOrLIUIT THEIR D
S:.LE AND STORAGE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL. CITY, do ordain
as follows;
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to fire
or discharge any bombs, pistols, canes, cannons or any other
appliances using blank car ridges, caps, or explosives of
any kind, or to fire or discharge any kind of fire works
by whatever name known, or to fire or discharge any substance
designed and intended for pyrotechnic display within the
City of National City, provided that nothing hereincontained
shall be construed as prohibiting the firing or discharge
of penny novelties, electric sparklers, bengal lights,
nigger -chasers, pinwheels, colored fire, small fire crackers
not over one and one-half inches in length and toy pistols
firing paper caps, between the 30th day of June and the
loth day of July of each year. Excepting, however, that
none of these articles shall be discharged upon public
school grounds or property:
Provided further, that the City Council may grant per-
mission by Resolution to have pyrotechnic displays of fire
works in any place within the City of National City upon
such conditions and with such restrictions :.a may be imposed
by said resolution, and provided that such display shall be
had under the direction of the Chief of the Fire Department,
of said City.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to exhibit, sell or offer for sale, either at
wholesale, or retail, within the City of National City,
any bombs, pistols, canes, c2.nnons or ot'ex appliances using
blank cartridges, caps or explosives, or to exhibit, sell or

offer for sale any fire works of any kind by whatever name
known; provided that nothing herein contained shall be
construed es prohibiting the sale of penny novelties, electric
sparklers, bengal lights, nigger -chasers, pinwheels, colored
fire, small fire crackers not over one Laid one-half inches

30th day of June and the loth day of July of each year, the

SECTION 3, All other ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. The sale or storage of fire -works at whole-
sale is hereby prohibited excet,t by permit from the City
Council of seid City issued for a. ,period not exceeding one
year.
SEECTION 5. Any person, firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, end upon conviction thereof shall
be fined in a sum not exceeding Thirty Dollars (,$30.00)
or by imprisonment in the County Jail of the County of
San Diego for a period not exceeding fifteen days, or
by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 6. This Ordinance shell take effect and be in
for on the 31st day from nd e ftee the date of its passage
and approval.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk of the City of Nation-.
City be, and he is hereby directed to cause this Ordinance
to be published once in the National City News, a weekly
newspaper published and of general circulation in seed City
of Notional City.
