ORDINANCE NO. 657 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2 AND 59 Of Ordinance no. 538 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING A SYSTEM FOR ASSESSING, LEVYING AND COLLECTING CITY TAXES IN THE CITY OF NATIONAL'CITY, CALIFORNIA; AND REPEALING OR- DINANCE NO. 444 OF THE CITY -OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANC7, PROVIDING. A SYSTEM FOR ASSESnING LEVYING AND COLLECTING CITY TAXES IN THE CITY OF NATIONAL C1TY, CALIF- ornia, ANT) REPFALING ORDINA7CE NO. 402." The Board of Trustees of the City of National City, California, .do ordain as follows: Section 1. That Section 2 of 0 dinance No. 538 of said City, entitled "An Ordinance Provding a System for Assess- ing, Levying and Collecting City Taxes in the City of Natioal Cty, Calt4ornia; and Repealing Ordinance No. 444 of the City of Natio, al City, California, entitled "An Ordinance Providing a System for Assessing Levying Collectirv, City Taxes in the City of Nationa1'City, Caaifornia, and Repealing Ordinance No, 402," be and the same is hereby amended to read as foows: The City Assessor shallin each year, between the first Monday of March and the first day of _Algus, ascrtain the names of all taxable inhabitants and all the property. within t he cor- porate limit, subject to taxtion, and shallassess such property to the owners thereof, if such owner is known to the Assessor, or if the name of such owner appears of record in the office of the County Recorder; if unknown to the Assessor and if it dose not appear of record as aforesaid, the 1:-.)roperty must be assessed to unknown owners. SECTION 2. That Section 59 of said Ordinanc No. 538 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: T1e Assessor is governed as to the amount of taxes to be by him collected on personal property, by the city rate of the previous year. 38 . SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause this Ordinance to be published once in The National City News, a newspaper printed and published in said City, and of general circulation therein. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force on the thirty-first day after its final. passage.
