HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 15,895RESOLUTION NO. 15,295 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA WATER COMMISSION TO SUPPORT THE ALLOCATION OF $4.3 MILLION TO THE FY 1990 BUDGET FOR THE SWEETWATER FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT The City Council of the City of National City does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the Sweetwater River Flood Control Project is part of a combined highway and flood control program to relieve flooding in the lower Sweetwater River Valley, to widen Interstate Route 5, and to construct State Route 54 between Interstate Routes 5 and 805, and WHEREAS, the plan for the channel improvement project was originally approved August 13, 1968 by Act of Congress, Public Law 483, 90th Congress, 2d Session, and WHEREAS, the project will protect heavily urbanized areas from flooding and result in the acquisition and conservation of 188 acres of marshland, and WHEREAS, it is estimated that there is a need for $4.3 million dollars in 1990, and $4.2 million in 1991 to complete the project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City does hereby request the California Water Commission to support the allocation of $4.3 million to the FY 1990 budget for the Sweetwater Flood Control Project (CWC No. 36).
