Traffic congestion and parking problems will dramatically increase. 2. The CITY will experience a loss of all current and future tax revenues generated by the property. 3. The proposal would obstruct the CITY's plans to develop a marina and other commercial tourist uses nearby. 4. The CITY's efforts to attract America's Cup syndicates would be jeopardized. 5. Heightened demands on police protection and other CITY services would occur. WHEREAS after review and due consideration of the NAVY's proposal, it has been determined that access to the new pier and all support facilities can be readily provided within the existing confines of the NAVAL STATION. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the CITY OF NATIONAL CITY is opposed to NAVY acquisition of any property within the CITY's corporate limits, be it through lease, purchase, exchange or any other method. 1 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of March, 1989. .21 GEORG ATEdMayor ATTEST: APPROVED AS TO FORM: GEORGE H.'EISER, III, City Attorney 2
