HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 15,404RESOLUTION NO. 15,404 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SALARY BAND FOR THE NEW MID -MANAGEMENT CLASSIFICATION OF ASSISTANT TO THE FIRE CHIEF WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission of the City of National City at its regular meeting of August 13, 1987, authorized the amendment of the classification plan of the City by the establishment of the new classification of Assistant to the Fire Chief. WHEREAS, the compensation and benefits for this classification should be consistent with assigned responsibilities and duties. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this classification shall be included in the Mid -Management Group and assigned to the following monthly salary band: $2,420 - $3,140 PASSED and ADOPTED this 25th day of August, 1987. eorge Waters. Eiser, HI - City Attorney CLASS SPECIFICATION ASSISTANT TO THE FIRE CHIEF DEFINITION Under direction, to perform varied professional administrative assignments for the Fire Chief. EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL DUTIES Performs professional and technical administrative staff duties in all assigned areas of the departmental administrative program; conducts and coordinates management and administrative studies; assists and advises the Fire Chief on organization, budget and operations policies; administers and provides staff support in the negotiation of contracts with public agencies and private companies; prepares grant proposals and monitors implementation of grants; coordinates City's Disaster Preparedness Program: develops manuals and forms; maintains effective liaison with other departments and agencies; performs a variety of special studies; prepares reports and correspondence. QUALIFICATIONS Training and Experience - A combination of professional education, experience equivalent to one of the following: 1. Bachelors degree in fire, public or business administration and professional administrative work including experience related emergency medical services and disaster preparedness. or training and two years of to fire and 2. Bachelors degree in any other academic field and four years of related professional experience. Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures relevant to fire safety administration including budget and revenue management; ability to gather, interpret and analyze data; superior ability in oral and written expression and in the applicaton of management and statistical research and reporting techniques; superior analytical ability; personality, attitudes and temperament necessary for effective communication and the .establishment and maintenance of effective working relations with all levels of staff, representatives of other agencies and departments and the public; ability to utilize EDP equipment and systems in accumulating and analyzing information and preparing reports.
