HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 15,116RESOLUTION NO. 15,116 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY SUPPORTING THE REQUEST OF PARADISE VALLEY HOSPITAL FOR AN ADJUSTMENT IN ITS MEDI-CAL CONTRACT RATE WHEREAS, Paradise Valley Hospital has a disproportionate share of Medi-Cal patients and consistently leads San Diego County in the number of Medi Cal patients treated; and W HE RE AS, Paradise Valley Hospital's intensity of services is greater than the average San Diego area hospital, and the range of services offered at the Hospital is comparable to hospitals twice its size; and WHEREAS, in 1985, the reimbursement which Paradise Valley Hospital received from the State for Medi Cal patients was less than its costs per day for such patients, and was less than the average Southern California rate; and WHEREAS, the inadequate payments which Paradise Valley Hospital is receiving under the Medi Cal program have depleted the Hospital's financial resources; and WHEREAS, in order for Paradise Valley Hospital to provide needed health care to the residents of the City of National City and of the County of San Diego, and to ensure a secure, viable, financial future, it is necessary that the hospital receive a higher Medi Cal contract per diem rate from the State. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that the City Council does hereby support the request of Paradise Valley Hospital to the California Medical Assistance Commission for an increase in the Medi Cal contract per diem rate paid to the Hospital by the State.
