RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION OF CERTAIN EMPLOYEES
IN THE CALIFORNIA STATE DISABILITY INSURANCE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, pursuant to City Council Action in Resolutions 15090 and
15124 concerning salaries and benefits of employees in the bargaining unit
represented by the National City Municipal Employees' Association and the
Confidential Employees, the City has conducted an election by these employees
to determine if a majority in each group wished to participate in the
California State Disability Insurance program, and;
WHERREAS, the results of said election indicated that 64% of the
employees in the bargaining unit and 75% of the Confidential Employees were in
favor of participation in said State Disability Insurance Program.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby authorize the City to
apply for State Disability Insurance for employees represented by the National
City Municipal Employees' Association and the Confidential Employees with the
understanding that all employees represented by the National City Municipal
Employees' Association and all Confidential Employees must participate and
contribute funds to the State Disability Insurance Program. The City will not
contribute any funds toward said Program.
SECTION 2. Subject to requirements of the State of California,
program participation will be sought commencing January 1, 1987, with employee
benefit eligibility commencing August 2, 1987.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 25th day of November, 1986.

ARTICLE 26 STATE DISABILITY INSURANCE
Without undue delay the CITY shall conduct an election to determine if employees in
the bargaining unit represented by NCMEA wish to .participate at their cost in the
State -Disability Insurance (SDI) program. Prior to voting, employees shall be
informed of the benefits, limitations, and costs to them of the program. If a
majority of the employees in the bargaining unit vote in favor of participation, the
CITY will take appropriate steps to implement the program.
Total costs of the program will be paid by all employees in the bargaining unit
through payroll deductions at the rates set by the State of California. Participation,
costs, and benefits of the program are subject to the regulations and requirements of
the State.
