HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 15,067RESOLUTION D. 15,067 RESOLUTION OF 'nLE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY URGING THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES TO SUPPORT STATE LEGISLATION SEEKING AN EQUITABLE METHOD FOR FINANCING SCHOOLS WHEREAS, the City of National City has considered the issue of school impact fees during the preceding year, and WHEREAS, said consideration has included conferences with the appropriate school districts, substantial staff time, public hearings, and a report from a multi -jurisdictional task force, and WHEREAS, the result of these studies lead to the conclusion that the "solution" to adequate financing of public schools is through appropriate State legislation, and WHEREAS, the League of California Cities is having their annual conference in October of 1986. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City hereby urges the League of California Cities to support State Legislation to provide an equitable means of financing public schools. BE IT FURTm R RESOLVED that State legislation should include a recognition that the State is primarily responsible for the funding of our public schools and that other funding may be developer's contributions and regional bonds or taxes if an equitable, statewide method is established for determining the amount of said funds.
