HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 14,874RESOLUTION NO. 14,874 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA REQUESTING THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO EXTEND THE PEFORMANCE PERIOD OF AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, (GRANT NO. 83-EDBG-018) BY AMENDING A SPECIAL CONDITION OF THE GRANT AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City, California by adoption of Resolution No. 14,394 on August 7, 1984 authorized an application to the State of California, Department of Housing & Community Development, for an Economic Development Block Grant for $400,000 to assist in the cure of the site of Brown Motors new car and truck sales facility to be constructed at the southeast corner of 30th Street and National City Blvd. as part of the "Mile of Cars" and as part of the National City Downtown Redevelopment Project adopted by City Council Ordinance No. 1762 on December 1, 1981; and WHEREAS, the State Department of Housing & Community Development, by letter dated November 14, 1984, approved said grant in the amount of $400,000 and the City Council, by adoption of Resolution No. 14,504 on December 11, 1984 authorized the execution of a contract for said grant and the contract was executed by the State on December 26, 1984; and WHEREAS, the grant period pursuant to said contract is October 1, 1984 to September 30, 1986 but the Grant Agreement has a special condition in Attachment B, paragraph 5, thereof, that Brown Motors must have begun construction of their auto and truck dealership on the improved site within 18 months from the date of execution of the Grant Agreement by the State, or in this case, by June 26, 1986, and said date is not feasible but September 30, 1986 would be feasible. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City, California, that the State of California, Department of Housing & Community Development, is hereby requested to extend the time period as set forth in paragraph 5 of Attachment B of the Grant Agreement between the State of California, Department of Housing & Community Development and the City of National City, California, Grant No. 83-EDBG-018, from 18 months to approximately 21 months, that is from June 26, 1986 to September 30, 1986, which date is within the States' Grant PASSED AND ADOPTED this 25th day of February, 1986.
