HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 14,570RESOLUTION NO. 14,570 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY ENGINEER TO ACCEPT PROPOSALS FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY PROJECTS FROM TRAFFIC SAFETY ENGINEERS WHEREAS, CALTRANS and the Office of Traffic Safety for the State of California have requested submittal of traffic safety projects for the fiscal year 1985 Hazard Elimination Program; and WHEREAS, the Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) grant is 90% federally -funded and requires a 10% city -match; and WHEREAS, projects eligible under this grant include, but are not limited to, new traffic signals, upgrading of existing traffic signals to include left -turn signals, signal indication improvement, and vehicle detection capability, and replacement of existing obsolete signal control equipment with new traffic - responsive, microcomputer type of controllers; to name a few, and WHEREAS, Traffic Safety Engineers has submitted two proposals to prepare application proposals to CALTRANS for said HES Program, one of which would compensate this company a minimum of $2,000.00 and a maximum of 2 1/2% of the federal funds received; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that the City Engineer is hereby authorized to accept the engineering services of Traffic Safety Engineers for preparation of application to CALTRANS for the Hazard Elimination Safety grant, more specifically, alternate A of their proposal. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the event grant application proposals are not approved by CALTRANS, the City of National City will not be liable for any services/costs incurred by Traffic Safety Engineers for the preparation of project grant applications.
