HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 14,724RESOLUTION NO. 14,724 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 32 WHEREAS, the Supreme Court of the State of California, in a decision entitled County Sanitation District No. 2 vs. Los Angeles County Employee Association, upheld the right of public employees to strike in certain situations; and WHEREAS, prior to that decision, the prevailing case law indicated that public employee strikes were illegal; and WHEREAS, strikes by public employees could be detrimental to the meet and confer process, since they provide public employee associations an option other than to meet and bargain in good faith; and WHEREAS, strikes by public employees could jeopardize vital services to the community; and WHEREAS, Assembly Constitutional Amendment 32 has been introduced to allow California voters to decide whether public employee strikes are to be illegal. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City, California, that the City of National City supports Assembly Constitutional Amendment 32.
