HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 14,235RESOLUTION NO. 14,235 RESOLUTION ADOPTING CLASS SPECIFICATIONS AND FIXING COMPENSATION FOR A NEW POSITION OF JUNIOR CIVIL ENGINEER BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that class specifications for a new ,^ position of Junior Civil Engineer set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part of this resolution by this reference, are hereby adopted for said position. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said position of Junior Civil Engineer replaces the Civil Engineering Tech- nician I position and will become a part of the competitive service. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the compensation range for said position is hereby fixed at $1,858 - $2,258 monthly. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of January, 1984. ATTEST: CLASS SPECIFICATION JUNIOR CIVIL ENGINEER DEFINITION Under general supervision to perform professional engineering work in the design and construction of public works facilities and contract administration thereof, and to do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL DUTIES * Prepares plans, specifications, and cost estimates for municipal public works projects, such as streets, storm drains, sanitary sewers, building and parks; performs on -site construction inspection for municipal public works projects; administers and enforces the City's engineering codes and standards on public and private construction projects; performs related assignments as required. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience - Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this classification. An example would be education equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a B. S. in civil engineering. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to public works engineering; methods, materials and techniques used in the construction of public works, buildings and utilities and surveying. Ability to effectively communicate with contractors, engineers and the public; prepare and interpret engineering plans and specifications; prepare legal descriptions for land; and administer City codes.
