RESOLUTION OPPOSING NEW FEDERAL
REQUIREMENTS FOR DISASTER ASSISTANCE
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (F.E.M.A.)
has established new criteria which must be completed by entities
seeking Federal Disaster assistance under Public Law 93-288; and
WHEREAS, such criteria require new additional information
which must accompany requests for Presidential Declarations of
emergency or disaster; and
WHEREAS, the new criteria place an undue burden on all local
governments at a time when they are already utilizing all available
resources to deal with protection of life and property; and
WHEREAS, some of the information may not be available, or may
not be available in time to obtain a Presidential Declaration and
subsequent Federal assistance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of National City, opposes the new Federal Requirements for
disaster declarations and urges the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (F.E.M.A.) to reconsider and streamline the requirements.
