RESOLUTION NO. 14,427
RESOLUTION REQUESTING AN EXTENSION OF TIME
ON THE AUTHORIZATION TO CONSIDER A SECOND
HARBOR OPENING IN SAN DIEGO HARBOR
The City Council of the City of National City does hereby resolve as
follows:
WHEREAS, the United States Army Corps of Engineers has conducted
a study on the feasibility of a second harbor entrances to San Diego Harbor,
and
WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers has prepared a report on this
subject, and
WHEREAS, a decision on this proposed project is scheduled to be made
within the present federal fiscal year which ends in September of 1984, and
WHEREAS, said report is essentially opposed to going ahead with the
project, and
WHEREAS, the City of National City believes that many of the cost
figures in the Corps' report are outdated and that there is need for further
study and an updating of the data, and
WHEREAS, a second harbor entrance would be of great value both to
recreational and commercial boating providing fuel savings and greater access to
the San Diego Bay, and
WHEREAS, the City of National City believes that there may be some
national defense considerations in favor of the second harbor entrance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of National City does hereby request that time for acting on this issue be
extended beyond September, 1984 into the next fiscal year.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 28th day of August, 1984.
