RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE PREPARATION OF A
PRELIMINARY PLAN FOR AMENDMENT II, NATIONAL
CITY DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City, after
public hearing on November 13, 1984, voted to annex certain land located
northerly of Sweetwater Road between Grove Street and Prospect Street to
the City of National City; and
WHEREAS, Sweetwater North, by letter dated November 14, 1984
requested the City Council to include the annexed land and two other parcels
already within the City Limit within the Redevelopment Survey Area and the
City Council, on November 27, 1984 amended the Redevelopment Survey
Area to include such land to determine if redevelopment of such land is
feasible; and
WHEREAS, said land is abutting and contiguous to the existing
National City Downtown Redevelopment Project and said land is vacant
except for three residences and appears to be a blighted area which is
necessary for redevelopment; and
WHEREAS, a preliminary plan for redevelopment is required to
be prepared pursuant to Sections 33320.1 through 33326 of the California
Community Redevelopment Law, and approved by the City's Planning
Commission prior to the preparation of and public hearings by the City
Council on a redevelopment plan amendment for such area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of National City, California that the Community Development
Commission is hereby authorized and directed to prepare a preliminary plan,
Amendment II, National City Downtown Redevelopment Project, for the
redevelopment of the area abutting and northerly of Sweetwater Road
between Grove Street and Prospect Street and located within the City limits
of the City of National City; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Executive Director of the
Community Development Commission shall transmit said Preliminary Plan, on
behalf of the Community Development Commission to the City's Planning
Commission for its review and approval.
