RESOLUTION NO. 14,510
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A FIRE
APPARATUS REPLACEMENT FUND
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City as
1. That there is hereby established a Fire Apparatus Replacement
Fund (FUND) for the purpose of maintaining a fleet of first line and reserve
fire apparatus.
2. That such FUND shall be an accumulation of monies from the
City's general fund as well as from other sources consistent with City policy.
3. That annual contributions to the FUND shall be made in an
amount providing for adequate funding at the time of apparatus replacement.
4. That the Fire Chief shall conduct a fire apparatus replacement
cost analysis during January of each year to determine or adjust annual
contributions to the FUND in order to provide for adequate funding. The
results of this analysis shall be forwarded to the City Treasurer.
5. The FUND shall be invested and any interest earned credited to
the FUND.
6. Loans may be made from the FUND to other City Funds on an
emergency basis. Such loans shall bear no less than 8% interest which shall be
credited to the FUND.
7. All fire apparatus included on the replacement schedule will be
purchased through this FUND with any shortage provided for in a manner
consistent with City policy.
8. Surpluses available from the purchase of apparatus for less than
the amount available in the FUND shall be prorated to the balance of the
FUND.
