A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING THE HAZARDOUS WASTE ELEMENT
OF THE REVISED SAN DIEGO REGIONAL SOLID
WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN (1982-2000)
WHEREAS, the Nejedly-Z'berg-Dills Solid Waste Management
and Resource Recovery Act of 1972, hereinafter referred to as the
"Act," requires each county, in cooperation with affected local
jurisdictions, to prepare a comprehensive, coordinated solid waste
management plan; and
WHEREAS, said Act also requires that such plan shall be
consistent with state policy and any appropriate regional or sub -
regional solid waste management plan; and
WHEREAS, said Act also requires that amendments to the
solid waste management shall be subject to the approval by a
majority of the cities within the county which contain a majority
of the population of the incorporated area of the county; and
WHEREAS, the County of San Diego has prepared the
Hazardous Waste Element of the Revised San Diego Regional Solid
Waste Management Plan (1982-2000) in conformance with the Act and
is submitting this amendment to the plan to the City Council of
the City of National City for approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of National City as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Hazardous Waste Element of the Revised
San Diego Regional Solid Waste Management Plan (1982-2000) includ-
ing the objectives, the organization for implementation of the
programs in the element, the general procedures for financing the
recommended hazardous waste management program, and the general
role identified in the element for the City in implementing this
cooperative effort for management of hazardous waste in an
economical and environmentally acceptable manner are hereby
approved in principle; however, the City reserves the right to
review those specific actions impacting the citizens of, the
businesses of, or the City of National City on an individual
basis.
