RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING WITH LOWER SWEETWATER FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
National City, California, that the City Manager is hereby
authorized to execute that certain Memorandum of Understanding
between the City of National City and the Lower Sweetwater Fire
Protection District for the purpose of augmenting the quality
of emergency medical care in a designated geographic region,
and to improve related coordination and communication between
the parties.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of October, 1983.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO PROVIDE PARAMEDIC
.SERVICES TO THE LOWER SWEETWATER FIRE PROTECTION
DISTRICT
This Memorandum of Understanding, entered into this /S day of..-44,,.1
19 8r3 , between the City of National City and the Lower Sweetwater Fire Protection
District.
Said Memorandum of Understanding is entered into for the purpose of: 1) augmenting '
the quality of emergency medical care in a designated geographic region, and 2) im-
proving related coordination and communication between the aforementioned parties.
Service Area
Responses to calls for emergency medical assistance. shall be made in a. territory
consisting of the incorporated limits of the City of National City and the Lower
Sweetwater Fire Protection District. Total service area equals approximately nine
(9) square miles and includes some 57,000 residents.
Fee Schedule
User charges for emergency care shall be established by the National City City
Council and/or be based upon any special fee schedule approved by the City of
National City for paramedic operations. The program is designed to be self-supporting,
and no cost to the City of National City or the Lower Sweetwater Fire Protection Distric-
General Procedures
1. Incoming Calls
A. All requests for emergency medical services occurring within the boundaries
of the Lower Sweetwater Fire Protection District or the City limits of
National City should be received by or coordinated through the National City
Fire Dispatch contractor.

2. Response Process
A. Upon receipt of a direct or transferred call for paramedic services, the
National City Fire Dispatch contractor shall direct the closest fire engine
company or fire rescue unit to the scene and notify the paramedic contractors,
to respond a paramedic unit. All response operations shall be based on San
Diego County Emergency Medical Services Criteria.
Term
The term of this understanding will be three (3) years commencing with the activation
date of this document. Any of the undersigned may terminate their participation upon
five (5) days notice to the other parties.
