RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, CHANGING THE NAMES
OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS: CIVIC CENTER DRIVE
AND PORTIONS OF 14TH STREET, KIMBALL WAY,
12TH STREET AND WILSON AVENUE
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the
City Council that access to the Civic Center complex of public
facilities is a substantial traffic generator that relies upon
certain street approaches from nearby freeways and arterial
highways; and
WHEREAS, those local streets do not now carry street
name designations affording optimum usefulness and which may
contribute to traffic inconvenience and hazard; and
WHEREAS, as the result of a duly noticed public
hearing held November 9, 1982, it has been determined to be in
the public interest to change the names of certain streets in
the Civic Center proximity, as set forth herein,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that effective
January 1, 1983, the following street name changes will be in
effect:
1. 14th Street, from Highland Avenue to
Kimball Way, will become Civic Center
Drive.
2. Kimball Way, from 14th Street to
12th Street, will become Civic Center
Drive.
3. 12th Street, from Kimball Way to Freeway
I-5, will become Civic Center Drive.
4. Wilson Avenue, from 12th Street to (old)
Civic Center Drive, will become Civic
Center Drive.
5. (Old) Civic Center Drive, from National
City Boulevard to Wilson Avenue, will
become 13th Street.
AND FURTHER RESOLVED that the street name signs
posted by the City along (new) Civic Center Drive, from
Highland Avenue to National City Boulevard and along (old)
Civic Center Drive from National City Boulevard to Wilson
Avenue will display both the old and the new street names until
January 1,1984 to reduce traffic confusion and inconvenience to
persons having addresses along the affected streets during the
transition; and
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk will notify all
public utility agencies, all affected property owners, and the
United States Postal Service that the name changes have been
made and advising them of the one-year change -over period
wherein dual street names will be posted; and
FINALLY RESOLVED that the City Clerk be directed to
forward a copy of this Resolution for recordation by the County
Recorder of San Diego County.
