HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 13,818RESOLUTION NO. 13,818 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY SUPPORTING PROPOSITION 9 ON THE JUNE 8, 1982 BALLOT WHEREAS, the Peripheral Canal project will be the largest single source of water supply for Southern California when it is completed; and WHEREAS, Proposition 9 on the June 1982 ballot, provides for the construction of the Peripheral Canal to ensure an adequate supply of water for Southern California when Arizona takes -delivery of the Colorado River water; and WHEREAS, the Legislature and the Governor have approved Senate Bill 200 and the people of California have approved the comprehensive environmental guarantees contained in Assembly Constitutional Amendment 90 known as Proposition 8 at the November, 1980 election; and WHEREAS, the Peripheral Canal has been found to be the most economical, efficient and environmentally acceptable Method of moving water across .the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT -the City Council of the City of National City strongly supports ballot Proposition 9 at the June 8, 1982 election, and urges the citizens of National City to support this ballot proposition. PP IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerkis directed to send a copy of this resolution to the League of California Cities, Sweetwater Authority, San Diego County Water District and the Metropolitan WTater District.
