HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 13,787RESOLUTION NO. 13,787 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF NATIONAL CITY INVITING THE CITY OF SAN DIEGO TO RE- JOIN THE UNIFIED SAN DIEGO COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES ORGANIZATION WHEREAS, the Emergency Services Agreement, as amended, between the County of San Diego and many of the incorporated cities therein has for many years been in effect for the purpose of preparing mutual plans for the preservation and safety of'an emergency; and WHEREAS, the of life and property in the event reasons prompting the passage of the Emergency Services Agreement are even more valid in the context of the present international and domestic situ- ations; and WHEREAS, the President of the United States and the Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency have placed renewed emphasis on the Nuclear Civil Protection Program and have underscored their commitment by proposing to double the funding for emergency management activities; and WHEREAS, the increase in the number of hazardous materials incidents and the potential for a major earth- quake have increased efforts for improving the response to natural and man-made disasters; and WHEREAS, the Unified Disaster Council of the Unified San Diego County Emergency Services Organization and the individual cities thereof wish to reconstitute the organization to full strength in order to again provide the residents of the County of San Diego and all the cities therein the best possible quality of emergency services, and on February 24, 1982 passed a resolution to that effect; NOW, THEREFORE, BFI IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City does hereby cordially invite the City of San Diego promptly to rejoin the Unified San Diego County Emergency Services Organization as a member in good standing, with all the rights and privileges pertaining thereto. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of National City shall forward to the Mayor of the City of San Diego a copy of this resolution. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of April, 1982.
