HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 13,684RESOLUTION NO. 13,684 RESOLUTION OF THE CIT' OF NATIONAL CITY' AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION D'F DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM WHEREAS, the City of National City has deter- mined the extent and need for data processing capability to meet growing demands for service in a more efficient manner; and, WHEREAS, current electronic technology has pro- duced data and word processing equipment which, if in- stalled, will allow the City to increase productivity and make better use of its resources; and, WHEREAS, an independent audit and study of data processing needs has been conducted; and, WHEREAS, a five-year data processing plan has been developed; and, WHEREAS, the City has allocated funds in its 1981-82 budget for the purchase of computer hardware, software and related services; and, WHEREAS, the City has received proposals from several data .processing vendors pursuant to a Request for Proposal dated September 24, 1981; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has received a report, analysis of proposals and recommendation for data processing services and equipment from the City Manager; and, WHEREAS, purch se of data processing facilities require evaluation of a ide range of issues other than cost such as service capabilities, training, history of company, experience of vendor's personnel etc. rendering bidding based on cost alone impractical. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: Section 1. The City hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a purchase and/or lease agreement with Western Information Systems, Inc., Pasadena, Calif- ornia, in an amount not to exceed $120,000 budgeted funds for this activity in fiscal year 1981-1982. Section 2. Pursuant to Section 2.60.110 of Municipal Code, the City hereby determines that competitive bidding based on price alone in this acquisition practical. is im- Section 3. The City Council hereby adopts the five-year data processing system master plan dated July, 1981 to guide staff in implementation of systems. Section 4. Pursuant to Municipal Code 2.60.220E, the City hereby standardizes on "Prime" computer hardware in order that compatibility exist with subsequent purchase of hardware, software, or peripherals.
