HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 13,530RESOLUTION NO. 13,530 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 215 WHEREAS, many of the streets in the City of National City are experiencing deterioration which is rapidly advancing beyond the ability of the City to maintain from current Transportation revenues; and WHEREAS, streets in th.e the expenditure of funds for timely maintenance of City of National City represents a prudent invest- ment that will preclude the necessity of expending capital funds in future years many times the amount spent on street maintenance; and WHEREAS, the purchasing power of Transportation revenues is less than required to adequately maintain City streets, and such purchasing power is predicted to become less and WHEREAS, the Legislative on February 24, 1981 supports funding available to the City our transportation system; and WHEREAS, SB 215 introduced by Senator Foran on February 4, provides a number of measures to reduce a critical shortfall in transportation revenues in California; and WHEREAS, increased revenues are provided from transportation "user fees", including the State gas tax, where such increases are needed to more equitably pay for facilities and services provided; and WHEREAS, the adopted 1980 Regional Transportation Plan calls for an increase of user fees as an appropriate mechanism to provide needed transportation revenues; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City supports the passage of SB 215.
