RESOLUTION COMMENDING CITIZEN ACTION
(Juan Zuniga)
WHEREAS, public recognition of such assistance
and bravery can only strengthen other persons' resolve to
resist intimidation from criminals and increase their will-
ingness to assist others under criminal attacks; and
WHEREAS, Juan Zuniga was witness to a robbery from
the person of Anna Castro by force, in a parking lot in the
1100 block of Harbison avenue, National City, California; and
WHEREAS, Juan Zuniga, with disregard for his own
personal safety, joined with two other concerned citizens
to pursue, capture and restrain the suspect until the police
arrived; and
WHEREAS, this act of bravery is above and beyond the
actions expected from most concerned citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of National City does honor and commend the actions
of Juan Zuniga in the apprehension of a dangerous felon with
prior criminal history, at risk of personal injury and cer-
tainly in the highest tradition of concerned and dedicated
Americans.
