RESOLUTION COMMENDING CITIZEN ACTION
(Norman Cluke)
WHEREAS, public recognition of such assistance and
bravery -can -only strengthen other persons' resolve to resist
intimidation from criminals and increase their willingness
to assist others under criminal attacks; and
WHEREAS, Norman Cluke was witness to a robbery from
the person of Anna Castro by force, in a parking lot in the
1100 block of Harbison Avenue, National City, California; and
WHEREAS, Norman Cluke, with disregard for his own
personal safety, joined with two other concerned citizens
to pursue, capture and restrain the suspect until the police
arrived; and
WHEREAS, this act of bravery is above and beyond
the actions expected from most concerned citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of National City does honor and commend the actions
of Norman Cluke in the apprehension of a dangerous felon
with prior criminal history, at risk of personal injury and
certainly in the highest tradition of concerned and dedicated
Americans.
