RESOLUTION COMMENDING A CITIZEN'S ACTIONS
WHEREAS, public recognition of such assistance and
bravery can only strengthen other persons' resolve to resist
intimidation from criminals and increase their willingness
to assist others under criminal attacks; and
WHEREAS, Willie Lee Bush, on the 9th day of June,
1980, was a witness to an armed robbery in progress at the
Yum Yum Doughnut Shop, 3122 E. Plaza Boulevard, National
City; and
WHEREAS, with disregard for h.is own personal
safety, he confronted the armed suspect, with knowledge
that a second suspect was outside, and restrained the
suspect until the police arrived; and
WHEREAS, this act of bravery is above and beyond
the actions expected from most concerned citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council of the City of National City does honor and commend
the actions of Willie Lee Bush in the apprehension of a
dangerous felon at risk of personal injury and certainly
in the highest tradition of a concerned and dedicated
American.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of August, 1980.
