RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NATIONAL CITY GRANTING A VARIANCE FOR A NEW
55 FOOT DRIVEWAY, AND DENYING A VARIANCE FOR AN
86 FOOT EXTENSION OF AN EXISTING 64 FOOT
DRIVEWAY, AT 1010 WEST 19TH STREET
WHEREAS, the Zellerbach Paper Company, 1010 West 19th
Street, has requested a variance to extend the width of its
existing 64 foot driveway by 86 feet, for a total of 150 feet, in
order to provide better access to its loading dock; and
WHEREAS, according to the San Diego Regional Standard
Drawing, the maximum allowable curb opening for each driveway for
commercial use is 30 feet with a minimum of 26 feet between curb
openings serving the same parcel; and
WHEREAS, based on the physical layout of the loading
dock, and the existence of minimum pedestrian traffic, it was
recommended by the City Engineer that a new 55 foot wide driveway
opening, rather than an increased driveway width by 86 feet, be
approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of National City that a variance is granted for a new 55 foot
wide driveway, adjacent to an existing 64 foot driveway, with 26
feet of curb between them, at 1010 West 19th Street.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the variance for an extension
of the existing 64 foot driveway by 86 feet, for a total of 150
feet, is hereby denied.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 22nd day of May, 1990.
