A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALLeORNIA
OPPOSING THE PT.�LOCATION OF STAITE ENGINEERING
TO THE NATIONAL CITY BAYFRONT.
WHEREAS, Staite Engineering currently maintains an unsightly marine
storage facility on the San Diego bayfront,
WHEREAS, it has been proposed that this facility he relocated to the
City of National City,
WHEREAS, this proposal would be inconsistent with the goals to promote
tourist -commercial development contained in the City's General Plan and the
Local Costal Program,
WHEREAS, National City has been cooperative with the Port District in
accepting industrial uses such as the Pasha Group's car distribution
facility and the McComic-Halivest boat building operation,
WHEREAS, National City's request to rezone 60 acres of Tidelands -
Manufacturing property to tourist -commercial use was dramatically reduced
in scope by the Port District,
WHEREAS, National City can no longer stand by while other parts of the
Port are cleaned up at National City's expense,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
National City, expresses its strong opposition to the Staite Engineering
proposal and urges the Board of Port Commissioners to deny its request to
relocate to National City.
