HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 91-89RESOLUTION NO. 91-89 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY ADOPTING THE CLASS SPECIFICATION FOR A NEW POSITION OF PHOTO RADAR SPECIALIST AND APPROVING THE SALARY RATE FOR THIS CLASSIFICATION AT $14.00 PER HOUR BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that class specification for a new position of Photo Radar Specialist set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution by this reference, is hereby approved for said position. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said position of Photo Radar Specialist will become a part of the Classification Plan for Temporary and Seasonal Positions, attached hereto as Exhibit "B". BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the salary rate for said position is hereby fixed at $14.00 per hour. Riser, III City Attorney City of National City EXHIBIT "A" CLASS SPECIFICATION PHOTO RADAR SPECIALIST (Part -Time) DEFINITION This a temporary part-time position, and employees in this classification will be authorized to work no more than 960 hour per year or 19 hours per week; may involve shift work; may operate on weekends, however, will most often work on weekdays between 0530 and 2000 hours; wearing of a distinctive uniform is required for this position (type, style, and color of the uniform has yet to be determined); uniforms and all personal safety equipment is supplied by the Department. This is not a Civil Service position and no employee benefits are provided other than those required by law. EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL DUTIES This position is assigned under the direct supervision of the Department's Traffic Division Supervisor. Duties shall be limited to traffic enforcement by means of operation of the Department's Photo Radar Speed Enforcement System, and will receive all necessary training; sitting in a distinctively marked vehicle while monitoring and operating computer, photography, and radar equipment; public presentations and demonstrations of the Photo Radar System; court room testimony concerning Photo Radar citations; recordkeeping; gathering of statistical data related to Photo Radar activity; interaction with the public regarding Photo Radar citations and interaction with other law enforcement agencies regarding the Photo Radar System. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Training and Experience - Must have served a minimum of one year as a peace officer as defined by 830 CPC. Retired highway patrol or police officer is desirable. Retirement cannot limit ability to complete required duties. Ability to - Effectively communicate, orally and in written form. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required at time of appointment. Must have completed a P.O.S.T. certified police academy.
