A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
APPROVING PLANS FOR A DIRECTIONAL SIGN
IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY
ON THE NORTH SIDE OF SWEETWATER ROAD,
APPROXIMATELY 250 FT. EAST OF NORTH SECOND AVENUE.
APPLICANT: KOA
CASE FILE NO. AP-1993-5
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City considered a request for
approval of plans for a directional sign in the public right-of-way on the north side of
Sweetwater Road, approximately 250 ft. east of North Second Avenue at the meeting held
on August 24, 1993; and
WHEREAS, at the meeting of August 24, 1993, the City Council of the City of
National City considered the recommendation of the Planning Commission for approval of
said plans, and
WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 10.48.010 prohibits the posting of signs on
public property, except as provided by Section 10.48.030; and
WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 10.48.030 provides that the City Council, by
resolution, after considering the recommendation of the Planning Commission, may grant
permission to post such sign or signs as it may determine to be reasonable and proper; and
WHEREAS, the request by the KOA is categorically exempt from environmental
review pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (Class 3, small structures);
and
WHEREAS, at said meeting the City Council considered the staff report contained
in Case File No. AP-1993-5 which is maintained by the City, and incorporated herein by
reference; and
WHEREAS, this action is taken pursuant to all applicable procedures required by
State and City law; and
WHEREAS, this action recited herein is found to be essential for the preservation
of public health, safety and general welfare.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
National City, California, that the plans for a directional sign in the public right-of-way
identified as Exhibit "A -revised", Case File No. AP-1993-5, dated August 11, 1993, are
hereby approved, subject to all conditions outlined in City Council Policy Guidelines and
Design Criteria for Directional Signs in the Public Right -of -Way, except that the sign is
permitted to be 5 square feet in area, in lieu of the 2.6 square foot limit outlined in said
Policy Guidelines and Design Criteria.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the
applicant.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 24th day of August, 1993.
