HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 95-26RESOLUTION NO. 95-26 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY SUPPORTING AB 82 - BOOKING FEE REFORM WHEREAS, Assemblyman Curt Pringle has proposed AB 82 to restore order and fairness to the process of booking fees imposed by counties on cities; and WHEREAS, AB 82 will make it more difficult for counties to engage in the practice of arbitrary multiple increases of booking fees by requiring public hearings and pre -fiscal year adoption of booking fee increases; and WHEREAS, AB 82 will require counties to recognize the financial contributions of cities which engage in pre -booking activities, which activities are often significant in terms of costs and resources to the cities involved; and WHEREAS, AB 82 is a needed piece of legislation which will greatly improve the booking fee process. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that the City Council does hereby strongly support passage of AB 82, and urges cities throughout the state to do the same. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City encourages the State Legislature to consider further legislative reforms in order to alleviate the burden of booking fees upon cities.
