RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO PURCHASE
ARJIS-RELATED EQUIPMENT FOR THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT WITHOUT COMPLIANCE WITH
BIDDING PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, the Police Department is in need of purchasing equipment for
use with the Automated Regional Justice Information System (ARJIS); and
WHEREAS, the normal bidding process will not permit the necessary
equipment to be acquired within the deadlines established by ARJIS; and
WHEREAS, the necessary equipment may be acquired through purchase
from ARJIS and from Micro Age Computers at a competitive price; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.60.220(D) of the National City Municipal Code
provides that the Purchasing Agent may dispense with the requirements of bidding when
the City Council determines that due to special circumstances, it is to the City's best
interest to purchase a commodity without compliance with the bidding procedures; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds such circumstances to exist in
the present case.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of National City that the City Council hereby authorizes the Purchasing Agent to purchase
equipment for use with the Automated Regional Justice Information System (ARJIS) from
ARJIS and from Micro Age Computers without compliance with the competitive bidding
procedures, at a cost not to exceed $82,000.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 21st day of May, 1996.
