HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 96-147RESOLUTION NO. 9 6 -14 7 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY APPROPRIATING FISCAL YEAR 1996-1997 SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND (SLESF) MONEYS TO THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO FUND FRONT LINE MUNICIPAL POLICE SERVICES WHEREAS, Government Code Sections 30061-30065 established the Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS) Program; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the COPS program, the City of National City will receive its share of $100,000,000 for the 1996-1997 fiscal year from the State of California, based on the City's proportion of the state population; and WHEREAS, as required by the Government Code, the City has established a Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF) in which to deposit moneys received under the COPS program; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has made a written request for appropria- tion of all available moneys on deposit in the SLESF for the following front line law enforcement services: and 1. Lap Top Computer Based Field Reporting System 2. Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System 3. Vehicles for Neighborhood Police Team; WHEREAS, in his request, the Chief of Police specified the front line law enforcement needs of the City, and those personnel, equipment and programs that are necessary to meet those needs; and WHEREAS, within 60 days of receipt of the request of the Chief of Police, the City Council held a public hearing on September 24, 1996 to consider said request in the City Council Chambers, 1243 National City Boulevard, National City, CA, at which time oral and documentary evidence was received and considered. Continued on Page Two Resolution No. 96-147 Page 2 of 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that the City Council does hereby approve the appropriation of all available Fiscal Year 1996-1997 Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF) moneys to the Chief of Police to fund the following front line municipal police services: 1. Lap Top Computer Based Field Reporting System 2. Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System 3. Vehicles for Neighborhood Police Team. PASSED and ADOPTED this 24th day of September, 1996. George H.
