RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
ESTABLISHING A LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
BLOCK GRANT ADVISORY BOARD
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice has approved the
application of the City of National City for a $186,971 Local Law Enforcement
Grant for the purchase of police equipment and technology; and
WHEREAS, federal law requires that prior to any obligation of funds under
the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program, the City Council must establish
an advisory board that includes representatives of groups with a recognized
interest in criminal justice and crime or substance abuse prevention and treatment;
and
WHEREAS, at minimum the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant advisory
Board must consist of representations of the following:
1. National City Police Department
2. San Diego County District Attorney's Office
3. South Bay Municipal Court
4. Local Public School System
5. Local Non -Profit Organization (e.g., educational, religious or
community) active in crime or drug use prosecution; and
WHEREAS, the function of the Board will be to make non -binding
recommendations to the City Council for the use of Local Law Enforcement Block
Grant funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of National City that there is hereby created a Local Law Enforcement Block
Grant Advisory Board, consisting of five members.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board will consist of
representatives of the National City Police Department, San Diego County District
Attomey's Office, South Bay Municipal Court and National School District, which
will nominate their respective representatives for appointment by the Mayor with
the approval of the City Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board will additionally consist of a
representative of a local non-profit, educational, religious or community
organization, active in crime or drug use prevention, which representative will be
appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council.
