RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NATIONAL CITY TO INCORPORATE
THE SENIOR VOLUNTEER PATROL VEHICLES
INTO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT VEHICLE FLEET
AND AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION AND
TRANSFER OF FUNDS FOR SAID PURPOSE
WHEREAS, based on the experiences of other cities in San Diego County in
providing for vehicle support for their Senior Volunteer Patrols, the Police Department is
recommending that the two Senior Volunteer Patrol vehicles be incorporated into the Police
Department's vehicle fleet, with maintenance and gasoline provided by the Public Works
Department, and that they be replaced with city vehicles being retired from service; and
WHEREAS, the proposed incorporation of the Senior Volunteer Patrol vehicles
into the fleet will provide stability to the Senior Volunteer Program by insuring that licensing,
insurance, vehicle maintenance, gasoline and future replacement needs are met; and
WHEREAS, based upon research into the gasoline and vehicle maintenance
costs of Senior Volunteer Patrols in other cities, the Police Department is recommending
augmentation of the Public Works Maintenance and Operation budget by $2,000 to cover
maintenance and gasoline costs for the two Senior Volunteer Patrol Vehicles for the remaining
eight (8) months of fiscal year 1997/8.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
National City that the Senior Volunteer Patrol Vehicles be incorporated into the Police
Department's Vehicle Fleet.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby approves the
following appropriation and transfer of funds:
