RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
ADOPTING IMMEDIATE ELECTRICAL
ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES
WHEREAS, California faces unprecedented energy challenges and severe
electricity supply shortages; and
WHEREAS, the importance of immediate energy conservation efforts cannot be
overstated; and
WHEREAS, Governor Gray Davis has asked all Californians to seek a
conservation goal of reducing electricity use by 7%; and
WHEREAS, to demonstrate California's commitment to conserve electricity, the
Governor has directed State agencies to immediately reduce electricity use in State facilities by
5% and has asked cities to do the same; and
WHEREAS, the City of National City has implemented proactive measures to
reduce electrical energy consumption in City operations and facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
National City that the City Manager is hereby directed to take actions to immediately reduce
electricity use by 5%.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council that the City of National City
is committed to reducing electricity use by 7% to achieve the goal requested by the Governor and
urges all its residents and businesses to reduce electricity use and conduct energy conservation
measures.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 13th day of February, 2001.
