RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH SDG&E FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF
APPROXIMATELY 71% OF THE COST OF RETROFITTING CITY
TRAFFIC SIGNALS WITH LED SIGNAL HEADS AND
PEDESTRIAN INDICATORS; AND AUTHORIZING
PUBLIC WORKS AND ENGINEERING TO PROCEED
WITH THE WORK IMMEDIATELY
WHEREAS, the California Public Utilities Commission ("CPUC") has directed
San Diego Gas & Electric Company ("SDG&E") to offer a Lighting Emitting Diode ("LED")
traffic signal rebate program to governmental agencies in SDG&E's service territory; and
WHEREAS, the City has applied for reimbursement offered by the CPUC,
administered through SDG&E, for retrofitting City traffic signals with LED signal heads and
pedestrian indicators; and
WHEREAS, the retrofitting must be accomplished by June 1, 2001, in order to
qualify for the reimbursements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
National City that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with SDG&E for
reimbursement of approximately 71% of the cost of retrofitting City traffic signals with LED
signal heads and pedestrian indicators.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City
that the Public Works and Engineering Directors are hereby authorized to proceed with the work
immediately.
