HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 2001 - 198RESOLUTION NO. 2001 —198 RESOLUTION ON THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY SCHEDULING A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE NECESSITY OF CREATING AN UNDERGROUND UTILITIES DISTRICT (DISTRICT NO. 22) FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONVERTING THE OVERHEAD FACILITIES ALONG 8m STREET FROM I-5 TO NATIONAL CITY BOULEVARD AND ROOSEVELT AVENUE FROM 8TH STREET TO PLAZA BOULEVARD TO UNDERGROUND FACILII'lES WHEREAS, the Community Development Commission of the City of National City ("CDC") has requested that the utility overhead wires along 8th Street from I-5 to National City Boulevard and Roosevelt Avenue from 8th Street to Plaza Boulevard be converted to an underground service area in order to accommodate the proposed National City Education Village Project (Proposed District No. 22); and WHEREAS, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has reviewed the parameters of the proposed conversion project and verified that the project complies with the criteria for a 20A conversion; and WHEREAS, in accordance with National City Ordinance No. 1414, Staff requests a public hearing to ascertain whether the public health, safety and welfare require the removal of the poles and overheard wires, and the underground installation of wires and facilities for supplying electrical and communication services within the proposed boundaries of Utility District No. 22. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that the time for hearing any and all persons interested in the proposed fee adjustments is hereby set for 6:00 p.m. on January 22, 2002, in the City Council Chambers in the Civic Center, 1243 National City Boulevard, National City, California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of National City, California, is hereby directed to provide notice of the time and place of said hearing in accordance with the law.
