A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY SUPPORTING
THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AGENCY'S TENTATIVE DECISION FOR THE
NPDES PERMIT FOR THE CITY OF SAN DIEGO'S
POINT LOMA WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
WHEREAS, on February 22, 2002, the majority of the San Diego Metro
Commission Members voted to support the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Tentative
decision for the NPDES Permit for the City of San Diego Point Loma Wastewater Treatment
Plant Discharge to the Pacific Ocean through the Point Loma Ocean Outfall; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reviewed all of the
available scientific evidence, which indicates that the current system of treatment causes no
environmental harm to the ocean or shoreline environment; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has also determined
that the expenditures necessary to upgrade the existing treatment plant to a secondary treatment
facility would impose an unnecessary financial burden on the ratepayers of the Participating
Agencies of the Metropolitan Sewerage System
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
National City hereby supports the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Tentative decision
for the NPDES Permit for the City of San Diego Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant
Discharge to the Pacific Ocean through the Point Loma Ocean Outfall.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 12th day of March, 2002.
