HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 2002 - 116RESOLUTION NO. 2002 — 116 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY APPROVING SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT NUMBER ONE WITH TETRA TECH ASL, INC. TO PROVIDE THE CITY WITH ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES TO PREPARE AND PROCESS CONSTRUCTION PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE BRIDGE REMOVAL PROJECT ON HARBOR DRIVE, AND AUTHORIZE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TO EXECUTE THE SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT WHEREAS, in accordance with the State of California, Department of Transportation, the existing unused and closed pedestrian bridge over Harbor Drive In National City must be removed as an alternative to seismic retrofit. The bridge does not connect an intersection street, sidewalk or pathway to Harbor Drive; and WHEREAS, the project consists of removing the existing single -span steel bridge structure, approximately 122 feet long, and 12 feet wide. It will also include the removal of the temporary chain link fences and street signs; WHEREAS, the City desires to employ a consultant to provide the City Engineering and Environmental Services in order to prepare and process construction plans and specifications for the bridge removal project on Harbor Drive; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that Tetra Tech ASL, Inc. is a professional engineering firm and is qualified by experience and ability to perform the services desired by the City, and is willing to perform such services; and WHEREAS, the City entered into an Agreement with Tetra Tech ASL, Inc. on April 17, 2001, to provide engineering services, and the scope of services may be expanded to include the additional work proposed to be performed by Tetra Tech ASL, Inc. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that the Public Works/Engineering Director is hereby authorized to execute Supplemental Agreement Number One with Tetra Tech ASL, Inc. to provide the City with engineering and environmental services in order to assist in achieving compliance with State of California, Department of Transportation for the removal of existing unused pedestrian bridge over Harbor Drive.
