HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 2003 - 96RESOLUTION NO. 2003 — 96 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY ESTABLISHING A MID -YEAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO REPAIR THE UNDERGROUND FUEL TANKS AT THE PUBLIC WORKS YARD, AND TO CLOSE THE UNDERGROUND DIESEL TANK AT THE POLICE STATION WHEREAS, the City has been cited by the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health for violations associated with underground fuel storage tanks at the Public Works Yard and the Police Station not being in conformance with current code; and WHEREAS, the violations must be corrected, or the fuel tanks must be closed; and WHEREAS, the tanks located at the Public Works yard provide fuel for all City vehicles and, therefore, it is more cost effective to repair and upgrade the tanks at an estimated cost of $40,000 to make them compliant with the current code; and WHEREAS, it is more cost effective to close at an estimated cost of $10,000 the Police Department's underground diesel tank that fuels the emergency generator because less than 50 gallons of diesel has been used for routine maintenance of the generator and the tank has not been used for emergency situations since the construction of the Police Station. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City hereby establishes a mid -year Capital Improvement Project for the correction of underground fuel storage tank violations at the Public Works Yard and the Police Station, by approving the following appropriation and transfer of funds: AMOUNT: $50,000 FROM: Account No. 196-2501 Capital Project Reserve Undesignated Fund Balance TO: Account No. 196-409-500-598-1587 Capital Project Reserve Fund PURPOSE: Correction of Underground Fuel Storage Tank Violations at Public Works Yard and Police Station.
