HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 2004 - 114RESOLUTION NO. 2004 — 114 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY ENDORSING THE TRANSNET EXTENSION ORDINANCE AND EXPENDITURE PLAN WHEREAS, in 1988, a San Diego County ballot measure was approved by 52% of the voters which provided funds through the use of a one-half cent sales tax per dollar (1/2 percent sales tax) for needed transporation projects such as public transit, rail, roads, bicycle and pedestrian ways for the next 20 years; and WHEREAS, the end of this measure will be the year 2008 and SANDAG is proposing to extend this 1/2 percent sales tax for the next 40 years through a ballot measure to be included on the November 2004 ballot; and WHEREAS, the total funds expected to be raised by this extension measure would be approximately $14 Billion to be used for transportation capital improvements in San Diego County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City hereby endorses the TransNet Extension Ordinance and Expenditure Plan. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of July, 2004.
