HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 2005 - 121RESOLUTION 2005-121 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF APPLICATIONS FOR THE PILOT SMART GROWTH INCENTIVE GRANT PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY SANDAG IN THE AMOUNT OF $6.525 MILLION FOR THE NATIONAL CITY BOULEVARD MEDIAN IMPROVEMENTS, NATIONAL CITY BOULEVARD SIDEWALK AND LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS, AND FOUNTAIN PLAZA, AND COMMITTING THE NECESSARY STAFF RESOURCES TO COMPLETE THE PROJECTS IF THE GRANT FUNDING IS AWARDED WHEREAS, the San Diego Association of Governments Pilot Program will provide $17 Million in Federal Transportation Grant funding (competitive grants) to local jurisdictions for infrastructure improvements that support regional smart growth development goals, with a maximum of $2 Million per project; and WHEREAS, National Citys eligible projects are the National City Boulevard Median Improvements, National City Boulevard Sidewalk and Lighting Improvements, and Fountain Plaza in the amount of $6.525 Million; and WHEREAS, as part of the grant application, the City is required to include a resolution for the City Council that authorizes the filing of applications for the projects and the commitment of staff resources to complete the proposed projects. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City hereby authorizes the filing of applications for the Pilot Smart Growth Incentive Grant Program administered by the San Diego Association of Government (SANDAG) in the amount of $6.525 Million for the following three National City projects: National City Boulevard Median Improvements, National City Boulevard Sidewalk and Lighting Improvements, and Fountain Plaza. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of National City will hereby commit the necessary staff resources to complete the above proposed projects.
