RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY AUTHORIZING
THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO EXECUTE
CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 WITH MJC CONSTRUCTION, INC.
IN THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $150,000 FOR
THE REMOVAL AND DISPOSITION OF CONTAMINATED SOILS
FROM THE FIRST PHASE OF THE PARADISE CREEK
EDUCATIONAL PARK PROJECT, UTILIZING FUNDS
FROM A $500,000 COASTAL CONSERVANCY GRANT
WHEREAS, the contract for the construction of the first phase of the Paradise
Creek Educational Park was awarded to MJC Construction, Inc. on August 16, 2005, by the
adoption of Resolution No. 2005-179; and
WHEREAS, Change Order No. 1, in the amount of $150,000, is for the removal
and disposal of approximately 1,500 cubic yards of lead impacted soil from the Paradise Creek
site in accordance with State and federal regulations; and
WHEREAS, funds are available from a $500,000 Coastal Conservancy Grant
obtained by the Community Services Department on June 16, 2005.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
National City hereby authorizes the Director of Public Works to execute Change Order No. 1
with MJC Construction, Inc. in the amount of $150,000 for the removal and disposal of
approximately 1,500 cubic yards of lead impacted soil from the Paradise Creek site in
accordance with State and federal regulations.
