HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 2007-102RESOLUTION NO. 2007 — 102 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY ADDING A RESIDENCE AT 2824 L AVENUE TO THE CITY'S HISTORIC SITES LIST APPLICANT: SHERRI STELIGA CASE FILE NO. 2007-25 HL, APN 563-162-12 WHEREAS, application was made to place a historic property located at 2824 L Avenue on the Historic Sites List on property generally described as: All that portion of Lots 11 and 12 in Block Four of Olivewood Terraces, as shown and delineated on the map thereof filed in the County of San Diego Recorder's offices on the 8th day of March, 1913, and number 1542 of maps filed in said office. WHEREAS, the City Council considered said application at a hearing held on May 15, 2007, at which time oral and documentary evidence was presented; and WHEREAS, at said hearing the City Council considered the staff report prepared for Case File No. 2007-25 HL, which is maintained by the City, and incorporated herein by reference along with evidence and testimony at said hearing; and WHEREAS, this action is taken pursuant to all applicable procedures required by State and City law; and WHEREAS, the action recited herein is found to be essential for the preservation of public health, safety and general welfare. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that it hereby approves the request to place a historic property on the Historic Sites List based on the following findings: 1. The proposed property is a part of one of the original subdivisions of National City, and as such contributes to the local history of National City; and 2. The proposed historic resource is associated with the life of Cornelia McKnight who significantly contributed to the development of National City through her efforts to establish the San Diego Fine Arts Society and her long-term commitment to the education of National City residents; and 3. The architecture of the structure is important to the community as it embodies the distinctive characteristics a Craftsman style architecture, which is representative of the arts and crafts movement of the San Diego region; and 4. The history of the property owners is important to the development of National City. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that based on the findings hereinbefore stated, said request to place a historic property located at 2824 L Avenue on the Historic Sites List (2007-25 HL) is hereby approved subject to the provisions of Chapter 18.139 of the Historic Properties Ordinance. Resolution No. 2007 — 102 May 15, 2007 Page 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution shall be transmitted forthwith to the applicant; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall become effective and final on the day following the City Council meeting where the resolution is adopted. The time within which judicial review of this decision may be sought is governed by the provisions of Code of Civil Procedure Section 1094.6.
