RESOLUTION COMMENDING A CITIZEN'S ACTIONS
WHEREAS, no person should have to live in fear of physical
violence at the hands of a criminal attacker; and
WHEREAS, too often when such physical attacks occur, nearby
witnesses are hesitant to come to the immediate aid of the victim; and
WHEREAS, the values and comforts of "community life" are best
realized when people willingly come to the aid of others who are injured or
in danger; and
WHEREAS, public recognition of such assistance and bravery
can only strengthen other persons' resolve to resist intimidation from
criminals and increase their willingness to assist others under criminal
attacks.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of National City does honor and commend Mr. John Robert PASTERICK
for his brave actions in coming to the aid of a female victim under criminal

to a location where he observed a male suspect beating and dragging a
screaming female;
2. Pulled the male suspect off the female victim and physically
subdued the male suspect until the arrival of National City police officers even
though, while subduing the male suspect, Mr. PASTERICK overheard threats
that the suspect possessed a sawed-off shotgun;
3. Provided responding police officers with some information
which assisted in the recovery of several items of stolen property, the
seizure of illegal weapons and narcotics and the arrest of the male suspect.
