HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 13,107RESOLUTION NO, 13,107 RESOLUTION INCREASING TOWING FEES OF CITY'S TOWING CONTRACT WHEREAS, the Tom Moynahan Towing Company has been awarded a ten year contract to provide towing services for all City originated calls for towing services; and WHEREAS, the fees for such services have not been adjusted to include the additional costs to the contractor for providing these services since February 1977; and WHEREAS, the Tom Moynahan Towing Company is the only qualified contractor meeting all City criteria. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of National City that the attached fee schedule for towing services marked Exhibit "A", and by such reference made a part hereof as though set out in full, is hereby approved as of the date of the adoption of this resolution. Tow truck and operator Base rate per tow Heavy duty hourly rate Accident rate After first mile $23.00 50.00 26.00 1.00 per mile B. The base rate per tow shall apply to all towed passenger vehicles and trucks rated at less than 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight. C. The one and one-half times base rate shall apply to all towed vehicles with a rated capacity of 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight to, but not including, vehicles with 30,000 pounds gross vehicle weight. D. The hourly rate shall apply to all towed vehicles with a rated capacity of 30,000 pounds gross vehicle weight or more. The hourly rate shall commence when the tow truck arrives at the scene. The contractor may charge portal to portal for calls outside their district. E. Gross vehicle weight is the weight of the vehicle plus the weight it is allowed to carry. II. Dry Run $10.00 III. Storage $ 4.00 per ve- hicle per day or combination IV. Dolly Job $20.00 A dolly shall be used only when the front or rear wheels of the towed vehicle cannot be made serviceable by use of the vehicle's spare tire, or when additional damage may occur by using conventional methods. The tow operator shall not be required to expose himself to unreasonable hazards. V. Unlocking Locked Vehicle No charge VI. Disconnecting Driveshaft Labor charge after the first 15 minutes at the scene or dolly charge if driveshaft cannot be safely disconnected. VII. Labor at Scene A. Tow truck and operator B.
