A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, URGING THE PRESIDENT
OF THE UNITED STATES, THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT
AND ITS AGENCIES TO FUND, SUPPORT AND COMMENCE
THE "SES VESSEL" PROGRAM USING THE FACILITIES
OF ROHR MARINE IN CHULA VISTA AND NATIONAL CITY
WHEREAS, benefits to the National Defense, the
nationwide domestic economy, employment rolls and industrial
productivity are vitally linked to the early commencement on
the "SES Vessel" program contracted by the U. S. Navy with
Rohr Marine, and
WHEREAS, the San Diego metropolitan area, in which
Chula Vista and National City are geographically and econ-
omically centered, is critically dependent upon Federal
programs related to the abundance of local military instal-
lations for an array of local socio-economic needs, and
WHEREAS, local community interests would suffer
immensely from the loss of this program at this time,
to the particular economic base needs found here, and
WHEREAS, National City has eagerly welcomed
due
the
Rohr Marine facilities and has enthusiastically anticipated
the early start of the "SES Vessel" program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council, on behalf of the entire community and in concert
with the political support in evidence throughout the
region, endorses, supports and rates this program as being
of urgent value to the welfare of our people; and urges the
United States Government and its Agencies to take those
steps necessary to get this program started now.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be
fowarded to:
